A new look at the upcoming Vin Diesel's Fast X is racing in our direction thanks to Total Film Magazine. Through the covers for their latest edition, audiences can check out new stills featuring Vin Diesel, Jason Momoa and Brie Larson, with everything there is to love about the franchise. Dramatic looks, a dreading sense of foreshadowing and shiny cars are all part of the new images, setting the tone for what will be one of the final stories in the Fast Saga. Destiny will arrive for the Toretto family, and this time, cars that can fly into space or sink a submarine might not be enough to save everyone.

The new adventure will see the return of plenty of fan favorites, as Vin Diesel will come back to the role that he has played passionately over the course of two decades. The stakes are becoming more personal for Dominic Toretto's family, as Charlize Theron's Cipher is coming back, and she's not happy about the last confrontation she had with the crew. There's no telling just how much damage the villain will be able to deal this time around, given how she won't be alone when the time comes to confront her rivals. The Toretto family will also have to recruit anyone they can if they want to stop Cipher's plans.

Dante Reyes, played by Jason Momoa, will support Cipher in her quest of destroying the Toretto crew after the group killed his father in one of their previous heists. The dangerous villain also has so many skills behind the wheel, and Momoa himself has described him as a person filled with daddy issues. Momoa is no stranger to big action blockbusters, as the actor previously portrayed Aquaman throughout numerous chapters of the DC Extended Universe. Street racing is certainly different from ruling the Seven Seas, but Momoa's charisma can shine in any environment he's included in.

Another star who forged her action career in superhero blockbusters before joining the Fast Saga is Brie Larson. The Academy Award-winning actress is more than ready to be a part of Toretto's crew, as she will need her character, Tess, to be a valuable ally to the team. During a recent interview, Larson spoke about the unusual inspiration behind the new character, and how she came to be thanks to one of Vin Diesel's family members. Hopefully, Tess' help can ensure that Toretto's family can overcome the challenges that are coming their way without losing anyone else.

The Inspiration Behind Brie Larson's New Character

Brie Larson’s ‘Fast X’ Character Is Based On A Member Of Vin Diesel’s Actual Family

Tess, Brie Larson‘s mysterious character in Fast X, has a “very strong” connection to the rest of the franchise. She also has a very strong connection to head-of-the-Fast-family Vin Diesel, as revealed in a profile of the Oscar-winning actress in Harper’s Bazaar.

Larson based Tess on Diesel’s eight-year-old daughter, who was wearing a jacket with “Good Vibes Only” printed on the back when they met. “Brie went to the wardrobe department and had them re-create the jacket,” Diesel said. “She wore it throughout the movie.” The fact that Larson drew inspiration from Diesel's daughter helps support the theory that Tess is Brian's sister. Diesel's daughter is named Pauline after the late Fast & Furious franchise star Paul Walker, who played Brian in six films before passing away in 2013 but will return to Fast X via flashbacks. It's only appropriate that, in a franchise all about family, Larson drew inspiration from Diesel's actual family for her character in Fast X. However, given the ties, it also hints at a more meaningful familial connection between Tess and Brian.

In another note that we also have from Collider, Michelle Rodriguez's talks about a shocking surprise in the ending Fast X's scene.

How do you continue to up your game and keep audiences on the edge of their seats when you’ve already parachuted cars out of a plane, jumped luxury vehicles between Abu Dhabi skyscrapers, blown up a submarine, went to space, and then some? I can’t even begin to wrap my head around that challenge but, according to Michelle Rodriguez, the Fast X writers have found a way to have our jaws hit the floor yet again.

That’s some pretty high praise from a series veteran, and Rodriguez didn’t stop there. After highlighting what Momoa will bring to the film, she pivoted to the tenth installment’s big finish and teased:

"I think people are going to be really, really surprised and we're going to get a lot of open mouths at the end of Fast X. Let’s just put it that way. It’s going to be like, ‘Really? What?’ Like that! Like that's how I was in theater. I was like, ‘Oh my god. What have we done?’”

The Fast franchise has delivered one epic third act set piece after the next. Can the team really get even bigger in Fast X? One thing that could make the Fast X finale stand out is the fact that the tenth and eleventh films are structured as a two-chapter conclusion for the saga. In fact, director Louis Leterrier has already promised a major cliffhanger at the end of Fast X leading into a final installment that’s “gigantic, in terms of action, scope, and emotion.”
