The Fast and the Furious is a 2001 action film directed by Rob Cohen from a screenplay by Gary Scott Thompson, Erik Bergquist, and David Ayer, with the story credited to Thompson. It is the first installment in the Fast & Furious franchise.
This action film Base in Dom Toretto's life, beginnings with four masked guys performing a track’s assault, of course even when we don’t see at that moment their faces is no other that Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) with his team, that enjoys the adrenaline of streetcar racing when at the same time is using his car’s racing skills to perform out of the law activities. He spends his days fine-tuning high-performance cars, the make and model matter less than the computer-controlled injection system that makes them fly. At night, Dom drives his own car, pocketing as much as $10,000 when someone gets up the courage to challenge him to a race.
In the other hand is Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker), that is a FBI agent that is investigating a series of major heists, which both the police and the FBI must uncover before things get out of hand. Brian that is also hungry for cars and adrenaline is an infiltrated undercover agent looking for Dom’s approval. After a blazing encounter with the ruthless Johnny Tran, Dom decides to take Brian (Paul Walker), a newcomer to street racing, under his wing.
Dom's sister Mia sees something she likes in Brian, too. Trouble is, neither of them realize he's a undercover agent.
Dominic and his rival Johnny Tran are both the prime suspects in a case involving dirty money and big-rig hijacking.
Caught up in Toretto's world of gang conflict that is resolved in late-night car races, Spindler starts to sympathize with his chief suspect and falls in love with Toretto's younger sister Mia (Jordana Brewster). In the meantime, Spindler initially suspects the wrong gang of complicity in the crimes he's probing,
Today over 20 years later we still enchanted below the spell of this action/adventure/car racing world that blow up our imagination and keeps us wondering what will be coming with the next chapter. Following the history line after so many films and so many different characters in each installment, we can appreciate the differences between them, some with more car racings, other with more accion. At the end all of them delivered what Hollywood was created for: "ENTERTAINMENT" An escape from every day's routine to an imaginary land where everything is possible.
