Vin Diesel's Fast X' New Character's Connection To The Plot

Updated: May 8

Since Vin Diesel's Fast X 's 4 minutes trailer was released 9 days ago, Fast's fans around the world are dreaming and speculating with the different possibilities brought to the plot with the new characters. In this blog we are going to add some details and flavors to these new characters.

Now that the first Fast X trailer has been released, there is a much clearer picture of what the movie will be. The main story appears to revolve around Jason Momoa's Dante Reyes setting out for revenge against Dom Toretto and his team for taking away his family. This will put the various members of Dom's crew in danger, possibly even forcing some to switch sides, and bring other characters back into the franchise's plan. While there have been plenty of Fast & Furious 10 theories since even before the trailer was released, the footage shown helps create even more and adds new evidence to support existing ones.

The beginning of the trailer shows the famous family reunion at Toretto's home and Dom’s mother, Academy Award winner Rita Moreno, speaking to the table about how much they all have endured and yet persisted together as a family. I love it! we don't know yet why it took this long to grandma to show up to share time with the family, but I assume that the meeting of Dom and Helen Mirren (returning as Deckard’s mother, Magdalene “Queenie”), that we saw taking place between them in Rome has something to do with this family reunion.

In Fast X Jason Momoa plays a villain, his name is Dante Reyes, who is the son of Hernan Reyes interpreted by Joaquin De Almada, the corrupt politician, drug lord and businessman, (he was also the main antagonist in the film), killed by Luke Hobbs in Fast Five. The man whose vault, containing $100 million from drugs dealers, was stolen by Dom and Brian.

Dante Reyes is coming to avenge not only his father’s death (killed by agent Luck Hobbs), but also to revenge the loss of his successful and brilliant future that Dom and Brian took away from him at the moment that they destroyed his father's public reputation and credibility including his vault full of money. In the trailer Dante, was inside one dark silver SUV, and fell into the river after Dom hit it with the vault attached to his car via a cable.

When Dom and Brian are stealing the vault, behind them in the second car was Herman Reyes and his right-hand man, Zizi, those are some of the new scenes added to the original Fast Five film in this Fast X version to be able to include the majority of the new characters linked to the current plot since about 12 years ago.

Vin Diesel's Fast X trailer has already demonstrated that the movie will use old footage to bring old characters back. This is best demonstrated by the prominent role of Paul Walker, who many believe should have exited the franchise for good after his perfect send-off in Furious 7. However, if flashbacks are also used for Gisele, there's a risk that Fast X could disappoint fans hoping for an official comeback. Arguably, this approach could also lessen the emotional impact of seeing Brian on screen again, as Gal Gadot could still feasibly return to the franchise. Whatever approach the movie takes, the use of Fast Five flashbacks has major implications for how a Gisele return – if it happens at all – could take place. Vin Diesel's Fast X' New Character's Connection To The Plot
Kurt Russell as Mr. Nobody & Brie Larson as Tess, his daughter

Brie Larson is Tess, a rogue agent belonging to the agency and Mr. Nobody's daughter, I'm not too sure about Mr. Nobody's paternity but that is what sounds around until today!! In another note, according to director Louis Leterrier, in this film Tess is the light at the end of the tunnel for Dom.

Alan Ritchson as Agent Aimes

Behind Dom we are also able to see other new character, Alan Ritchson (Amazon Prime’s “Reacher”) as Agent Aimes, head of the agency if he is replacing Hobbs now, and probably second on board back in those days that Luck Hobbs used to be an active agent. More than probably Alan Ritchson, as agent Aimes, is Luke Hobbs’ replacement in future Fast and Furious instalments.

Vin Diesel as Dom Toretto saving Daniela Melchior's life

During the trailer release event director Louis Leterrier revealed more story details for the upcoming film and teases that, in addition to shifting allegiances, there will be some major casualties. I don't have a clue who the casualties will be yet but I do know at least one of the shifting allegiances. But talking about shifting allegiances, is were we located Daniela Melchior 's character.

Elsa Pataky as Elena, Leo Abelo Perry as Little B & Daniela Melchior ? no name given yet

In the trailer we can watch Dom saving Daniela Melchior life, no name given to her character yet, but who is part of Dante Reyes' team looking for revenge on her sister's Elena's dead. Agent Elena who was Dom's love interest during Letty's dead and also mother of Dom only son "little B". In another words Daniela Melchior is Little Brian Toretto's aunt and after being saved by Dom Toretto shift teams to join his nephew's family.

Fast X Will End on a Cliffhanger, Fast XI Set to Be 'Gigantic' in Scope -

Fast X director Louis Leterrier has warned audiences that they "will feel all the feels" in both Fast X and Fast XI.

The upcoming action outing Fast X will end with a “big” cliffhanger, according to director Louis Leterrier. Speaking with Empire Magazine, the filmmaker warned audiences that the tenth installment would leave us all anxious for the franchise finale, Fast and Furious 11. And, knowing the ludicrous world of Fast and Furious, this cliffhanger could be literal...

"This one is big. You know, I don't want to oversell it, but what we're planning on the next one is just gigantic, in terms of action, scope and emotion. You will feel all the feels. Tears will roll."

As well as teasing the scope of both the tenth and eleventh outings, Leterrier seemingly confirms that he will indeed return to director Fast 11 after stepping in at the very last minute to take over Fast X following a fallout between director Justin Lin and star Vin Diesel. Fast X’s Trailer Shows Off Epic Action And Attention To Detail, But Apparently The Whole Thing Was Rewritten Overnight

As per Fast & Furious tradition, the Fast X trailer dropped just in time for it to be a big topic during Super Bowl Sunday. The first look at the 2023 movie release has already racked up over 31 million views online as it set the stage for what’s next for the Fast family in this action-packed blockbuster. The movie looks absolutely epic, so it’s certainly surprising to hear the entire script was basically rewritten in the matter of a day.

To catch you up to speed, shortly after Fast X started filming in April 2022, its writer/director Justin Lin made the “difficult decision” to step away from his role at the helm. Just a week later, the director of the Transporter films, Louis Leterrier, was announced as his replacement. When Leterrier recently recalled taking the job on such short notice, he shared his whirlwind experience to the set of Fast X.

When speaking to Esquire Middle East, Leterrier recalled that he got the call from Universal in the middle of the night, Paris time, with a message asking if he could read the Fast X script by 5 a.m. that morning. Leterrier said that he had a “moment of panic” regarding if he could take on the job so quickly, but seeing as though he “admired” the franchise for years, he decided he couldn’t pass it up. In Leterrier’s words:

"I read the script four times on the plane, and I said I had some ideas, and they said ‘great, because the whole third act is changing. Can you rewrite it tonight?’ I was literally on no sleep. I’d been on no sleep for days. Obviously, this was not going to be set in stone. But I was like, ‘okay, yeah, I’ve got some ideas,’ and started writing. And obviously, since the third act was changing, I needed to change the first act. And when you rewrite the third act, and the first act, the second act has to go. So basically I had to on the fly rebuild the airplane".
