Fast X marks the beginning of the end of the Fast saga. While the movie will not be the final chapter, the cast and crew have been open that it marks part of the finale – and after 22 years on our screens, everyone is preparing to say farewell.

"That’s the beauty of arriving near the end of this franchise: I don’t have to go, 'Oh, well, these characters will live forever,'" director Louis Leterrier Total Film magazine in the new issue, which features the movie on the cover. "No. They might not, because it’s the end. Only in westerns do cowboys gallop out into the sunset. This is definitely different. It allowed me some freedom to raise the stakes even more than they’ve been raised before."

And while Leterrier has ruled out a long-foreshadowed return appearance for Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner outside of the film’s flashback footage from Fast Five, star Vin Diesel isn’t dismissing the idea of an on-screen reunion through digital doubles or similar face-replacement tech used on Fast 7 for the final Fast installment.

"That moment in 2013 when the world was struggling with his loss, the studio made a very bold and righteous and daring decision to keep Brian O’Conner alive," Diesel notes to Total Film. "I will give you this without spoiling anything: I couldn’t imagine this saga ending without truly saying goodbye to Brian O’Conner."

As the series races towards the finish line, Diesel is confident that what they have planned for that final, nitro-fuelled push will deliver on sky-high audience expectations, and we’re not just talking about flying cars. "I’ve spent a lot of time putting my ear to the ground, and getting a sense of what the true fans have desired, and what their feelings are, and also just a 50,000ft view of how a saga should end – with dignity and integrity. Everything has led us to this point."

In another note we all remember how terrible the moment was when Justin Lin officially announced his departure from Fast X's direction. In those days none of the parts gave any clear explanation about that decision, well after so many months Vin Diesel opened spiking to Total Film Total Film.

'Fast X': Vin Diesel Discusses Justin Lin's Exit

Lin, a creative force behind the scenes, departed the tenth film early in production to be replaced by Louis Leterrier.

The news that Fast and Furious stalwart Justin Lin had departed the saga one week into production on the penultimate Fast film, Fast X, rocked fans of the franchise. After all, Lin was responsible for taking the franchise from its roots of street racing into heist and spy-themed action movies after taking over on the fourth installment. However, the hope was that a transition would be smooth, when replacing Lin, something which the headliner of the series confessed wasn't the easiest thing in the world to deal with.

"It definitely wasn’t an easy time," said the star and producer of the films, Vin Diesel, speaking to Total Film. It was reported at the time, via third-party, that a creative disagreement between Lin and Diesel was the main reason behind the director's departure from the franchise. However, Diesel was gracious and magnanimous when discussing his feelings on Lin as a director and a man.

"There still were traces of the pandemic, and all that pressure that was put on production," he said. "Nothing but love for Justin, and nothing but gratitude for the work that he did to get us to that first week of filming… but sometimes you’ve got to find a way to get it done."

How Fast X's Director Won Over Vin Diesel After Justin Lin Fallout

Fast X director Louis Leterrier reveals how he won the trust of the film's lead actor and producer, Vin Diesel, after stepping in for Justin Lin.

Fast X director Louis Leterrier described how much he had to convince Vin Diesel he was the right person to take over following Justin Lin's departure. Speaking with Total Film, Leterrier, who replaced Lin as the director of the latest Fast & Furious movie in May 2022, had little time to prepare himself for leading the production. Thankfully, his knowledge and appreciation for the popular franchise quickly helped him to settle, winning Diesel's approval along the way. With that said, Leterrier admitted the process hasn't been easy. "I had to change everything. I had to make it work," he said, "I don’t sleep! There’s so much to do. [But] it’s been the thrill ride of a lifetime."

Leterrier joined Fast X after Lin left the project just two days into production. The final straw for Lin was a very tense meeting with Diesel, who made impromptu script changes, leading to the then-director deciding he had enough as he needed to preserve his mental health. Before his exit, Lin was a mainstay in the Fast & Furious franchise, first helming its third installment, Tokyo Drift. He then directed the fourth, fifth, and sixth films before returning to make F9.

Back in Febraury, I wrote my theories about the new characters into Fast X according to my findings in the net and now that Brier Larson confirmed my theory about her character being Mr. Nobody's daughter and since Daniela Melchior and Luis Trikz posted the name of her character: Isabel

I would like to remind everyone that Isabel is Elena's sister, in another words Isabel is Littre Brian Toretto's aunt.
