Vin Diesel, Fast and Furious and Helen Mirren

It was in Los Angeles attending Fast and Furious 7's World Premiere in April 2, 2015 when we first saw Helen Mirren publicly asking Vin Diesel for an opportunity to become part of the cast to the next Fast and Furious' instalment, if it was a Fast 8 in the future.

At that specific time Helen used ET's reporter to calls Vin Diesel's attention about her interest to be included in the cast (please see video below), saying: "Vin take your act together"

Later on, we also heard about at cocktail party at Helen's home, where Vin was invited, and she begged him about her dream to become a Fast and Furious active teammate.

And all her "shameless bagging" works wonders because Vin Diesel finally confirmed that she was included to the saga. Below Vin Diesel and Helen Mirren filming Fast 8 (Dom Toretto and Queenie Shaw).

Vin Diesel himself was the one who recalled the above story to Total Film, explaining that the Oscar-winning actress bee-lined straight for the Fast & The Furious stalwart at a glitzy party, and the rest, as they say, is history. Vin Diesel remarked:

"People don't know that I'm the one working for a year beforehand with the writers and coming up with the story. She came up to me at a party last year and said, 'I want to be in Fast & Furious with you.' The script was [already] greenlit, but she told the right person, because a week later she got written in".

Since then, Helen Mirren was included in Fate of the Furious (Fast 8, 2017), Hobbs and Shaw (2019) and Fast 9 (2021), where finally she drove Vin Diesel into her car.

Helen Mirren was born on July 26, 1946, in Hammersmith, London. She is the daughter of Kathleen Alexandrina Eva Matilda Rogers (1909-1996), and Vasily Petrovich Mironov (1913-1980). She had two brothers. Her mother was English, and her father was Russian, originally from Kurbanov, Smolensk Oblast. Helen with a solid theatrical training, won at the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company and at the experimental Center for Theater Research founded by Peter Brook, has had a storied career. A winner of an Academy Award, four BAFTAs, three Golden Globes, four Emmys and so many other accolades.

Helen even achieved the known esteemed Triple Crown of Acting (winning an Academy Award, Emmy, and a Tony). Yet it came down to her having to bagged to Vin Diesel, to land her a place in the Fast & Furious family saga.
