After the big success obtained with Fast and Furious, Universal come up with the idea to create do a sequel and contacted Vin Diesel and Paul Walker with the possibility of the return. At that point Vin Diesel was overwhelmed with his new world wide’s superstar status. Vin Diesel was very involved with the making of the first film and was pleased with how The Fast and the Furious turned out. He wasn't interested in doing a sequel just for the sake of getting a franchise off the ground though and refuse the chance, afraid that a second part could decrease the success and popularity of the first release. As you know there is a saying: A second part it is never as good as the first. Vin Diesel didn't return as Dom Toretto in 2 Fast 2 Furious due to the script, instead choosing to star in xXx (2000) and The Chronicles of Riddick (2004).
Ex-LAPD agent Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker), now a disgrace cop, is on the run because he let Dominique Toretto escape and he moved to Miami to start a new life. Here, he makes new friends Tej Parker (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges); an ex-street racer, well-known car tuner Jimmy as well as Suki, another street racer. O’Connor is now known by his nickname “Bullit” and competes with fellow street racers in high stakes races to win money using the skills he learned as a member of Toretto’s now disbanded team.
Brian is caught in Miami by his former associate Bilkins, he is recruited to take down a drug lord named Carter Verone (Cole Hauser). O’Connor agreed to help them on the terms of creating his own team He decides to team up with his childhood friend Roman Pierce (Tyrese Gibson); The duo transport a shipment of dirty money for shady Miami-based import-export dealer Veron while working with undercover agent Monica Fuentes (Eva mendes).
In this Fast and Furious’ sequel we all got introduced to Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pierce) and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges (Tj Parker); since then both become regular members of Toretto's team and part of the Saga returning to his characters on each consecutive instalment.
