Updated: Feb 21, 2023

Tokyo Drift is a 2006 action film directed by Justin Lin and written by Chris Morgan. It is the standalone sequel to 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) and is the third installment in the Fast & Furious franchise. At the end of this third chapter, fans can reconnect with Dominic Toretto due to Vin Diesel’s cameo appearance to introduce his fully return into the following film, Fast and Furious 4.

The plot starts with Lucas Black, Bow Wow, Nathalie Kelley, Sung Kang, and Brian Tee.

In this film, high school car enthusiast Sean Boswell is sent to live in Tokyo with his estranged father and finds solace exploring the city's drifting community with Han Lue.

This third film was confirmed in June 2005, when Justin Lin was selected as director and Chris Morgan was hired following an open call the same summer; this dynamic team faced creative differences with producers throughout the film's production and also the frustration to be unable to secure to the returns of any of the stars of the original cast, for that reason the developers sought to establish Tokyo Drift as a distinct entry in the franchise. The result adding more emphasis on car culture and street racing was an excellent idea that made this installment full of action and adrenaline, very appreciated for the franchise’s fans.
